Vacuum condenser light is on

When the vacuum condenser light is activated, this simply means that your refrigerator’s condenser has been actively serving you for a period of 24 hours straight. While the time of activity may not be a problem, a more worrisome reason why you should pay attention to this light is that it is an indication that the refrigerator is working harder than it should keep its content cool. When the light comes on, the first line of action is to check the cleanliness of the condenser coils. If the coils are dirty, chances are that this may be the source of the problem. It is recommended that you perform a thorough cleaning of the coils twice a year, that is, once every six months. You should clean the coils more frequently if you have pets in the home. If the refrigerator coils are clean, another suspected possibility is that the evaporator coils may have developed tiny holes leading to leakage of Freon.

Failure to cool items

If your Sub Zero refrigerator fails to cool the items contained in it, chances are high that this may cause you to panic. However, it is important to note that the Sub Zero refrigerator has two compressors which means that each section, the refrigerator, and the freezer, have dedicated compressors. If one side of the compartments is failing to cool its content, chances are that there may be a problem with the compressor.

SubZero Refrigerator leaking water

If your Sub Zero refrigerator begins to leak water, there are several reasons why this may have happened including clogged or frozen defrost drain. In the case of a frozen or clogged drain, attempt to thaw the ice or clear out the debris contained in the drain by flushing with hot water.

Sub Zero Refrigerator Won’t Turn On

If you have recently relocated your refrigerator, you could be struggling with it not turning on. Remember, there’s lubrication in your fridge that requires staying in the compressor. If you didn’t keep it upright during the move, the lubricant could have leaked into the coils. The refrigerator needs to sit for a while after moving. This allows the lubricant to drain back to where it’s supposed to be. You can then turn it on, and it should operate smoothly. Check the unit door or drawer was not left open for an extended time, make sure the light switch is operational and check to see if the unit is not in Sabbath mode. Make sure the power cord is safely plugged into the electrical outlet, and the electrical outlet has power. Turn the circuit breaker off for ten seconds then turn it back on. Also, make sure the unit is not connected to a GFCI.

Sub Zero Freezer Temperature Problems

Make sure the door has not been left open for an extended time. Remove anything that may be preventing the door from closing. Check the gasket for cracks, rips, or tears. Every three months, you should clean the condenser. This is important to help maintain the unit’s temperature.

What does the error code means and how to fix it?

New Code: EC 05, EC 06, EC 07, EC 08 Cause:

Inconsistent temperature readings in the refrigerator or freezer cabinet.

Solution:

The issue may be caused by loose or faulty connections between the thermistor and the control board, or it may mean the thermistor is faulty. Refer to your owner’s manual to locate the thermistor, and ensure the wires between the thermistor and control panel are securely connected.. If the connections are secure, the thermistor and control panel will need to be tested to ensure functionality. Testing requires the use of a multimeter. You may need the assistance of a specialist trained in SubZero refrigerator repair to diagnose and replace the faulty components.

New Code: EC 10, EC 11, EC 12, EC 13 Cause:

The refrigerator is too warm and/or the upper cabinet has been open too long

Solution:

You will receive this error if your refrigerator’s upper cabinet has been open too long or if the upper cabinet is too warm. To resolve the error, disconnect the power from the unit at the circuit breaker. Leave the power off for at least one minute. Turn the power back on and keep the refrigerator door closed until the unit has reached optimal temperature.

New Code: EC 15 Cause:

There is an issue or fault with the sealed system.

Solution:

The “sealed system” of your refrigerator is what allows it to get cold. It consists of the compressor and condenser. Troubleshooting a sealed system fault requires the assistance of an experienced technician. However, rebooting the refrigerator may solve the error. To reboot the refrigerator, turn off power to the outlet at the circuit breaker and wait a full minute. Turn power back on and allow the refrigerator to resume operation. If the error continues, contact a SubZero refrigerator repair technician.

New Code: EC 20, EC 24 Cause:

Defrost underheat

Solution:

This error may indicate an issue with the wiring, defrost heater, defrost terminator, or refrigerator control board. If you receive this error, contact your local SubZero repair service for assistance.

New Code: EC 21, EC 23 Cause:

The defrost temperature is too high

Solution:

This error may indicate that the freezer evaporator is improperly mounted, or there is an issue with the internal wiring. Contact a SubZero Repair specialist for assistance.

New Code: EC 22 Cause:

Wiring or Defrost Issue

Solution:

A SubZero appliance repair technician will need to check the wiring to ensure all parts are working and connected properly.

New Code: EC 30 Cause:

Icemaker Not Working Properly

Solution:

Check the icemaker to ensure it is not jammed. Ice or other material may be jammed inside the icemaker. If an obstruction is not detected, contact a service repair person to inspect the electrical connections and continuity between the ice maker and control board.

New Code: EC 38 Cause:

Multiple (greater than 5) instances of excessive compressor runtime.

Solution:

Inspect the thermistor and compressor for malfunctions.

New Code: EC 40, EC 50 Cause:

Freezer and/or Refrigerator Compressor is Running Excessively

Solution:

This may mean that the condenser needs to be cleaned. If there are pets in the home, the condenser may need to be cleaned more often.

New Code: EC 55 Cause:

Faulty Thermistor

Solution:

A thermistor is a resistor that helps measure and control temperature. If you get this error, your refrigerator’s thermistor may need to be replaced. Your unit may have multiple thermistors, so it is best to contact a SubZero refrigerator repair servicer for assistance.

New Code: EC 80 Cause:

High variable speed compressor differential pressures or low voltage supplied to variable speed compressor

Solution:

Inspect the suction pressure and return the suction pressure to normal levels.

New Code: EC 85 Cause:

The variable speed compressor is overheating

Solution:

This may indicate low levels of refrigerant in the unit caused by a leak in the refrigerator’s sealed system. Another potential cause for this error is the refrigerator is drawing excessive electrical power causing the system to overheat. Both issues require the service of a qualified technician to resolve.

New Code: EC 86 Cause:

Communications Failure

Solution:

This error indicates a wiring issue between the compressor and the main control board.

New Code: 90 5 80, 90 H 80, 90 H 82, 90 H 83, 90 H 84 Cause:

Communication issue with the main board.

Solution:

This error indicates that the main control board needs to be reset or replaced. Disconnect the refrigerator from the power by unplugging it, or turning off power at the circuit board. Wait ten minutes and reconnect the power. If the fault is not resolved, contact a service technician for additional assistance.

New Code: Flashing “Service” Indicator Cause:

Routine maintenance is required.

Solution:

This error activates when the refrigerator needs to be maintained. Clean the compressor and reset the refrigerator.
